Why is my dishwasher not cleaning dishes properly?

There can be a few reasons why your dishwasher isn't cleaning dishes properly. One common issue is using too much detergent or the wrong type of detergent, which can leave residue on dishes or prevent them from getting fully clean. Another reason could be that the dishes aren't rinsed before loading, which can cause food particles to clog the filter or block the spray arms. Additionally, other factors like improper loading or maintenance issues may also play a role. For more tips and troubleshooting solutions, check out our detailed blogs where we cover these and other common dishwasher problems.

When should I clean my oven with the self clean feature?

While the self-cleaning feature on your oven can be convenient, it’s important to be aware that it can sometimes cause issues. The high temperatures used during the self-clean cycle pull a lot of electricity, which can lead to blown sensors or even damage the computer board in some ovens. For this reason, we recommend using more traditional methods for cleaning your oven. A great option is to use silicon oven liners or pans that can be placed at the bottom of your oven to catch spills and grease. These liners can be easily removed and cleaned in the sink, helping to keep your oven spotless without the risk of damage.

How often should i have my stand alone ice maker cleaned?

Your stand-alone ice maker should be cleaned at least every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage and the manufacturer’s recommendations. If your ice maker is used frequently or in a hard water area, you may need to clean it more often to prevent mineral buildup, mold, or bacteria from affecting ice quality. Regular cleaning ensures efficient performance and prolongs the life of the appliance. For best results, follow the manufacturer’s cleaning guidelines, and consider scheduling professional maintenance annually.

How can I make my appliances last longer?

There are very specific things you can do to make your appliances last longer, work better, and cost less to run. The first is to have all of your appliances maintained every year by a professional. This is proven to extend the life of your appliances by a minimum of 30 percent. Regular maintenance ensures that potential issues are caught early, preventing expensive repairs or replacements.

Additionally, make sure you use your appliances correctly by following the manufacturer’s instructions and avoid overloading them. Installing proper surge protectors on your breaker box and throughout your home will also safeguard your appliances from electrical surges, which can damage their sensitive components.
